Our website walks you through the steps for buying a frost free model with written instructions and videos that demonstrate the proper techniques used for installation. We even have a video that shows you how a frost free faucet works.
Some tips from the Eagle Mountain Products’ website for installing a frost free faucet.
- It is important to remember that a frost free faucet is designed to be installed with a slight downward pitch. Incorrect installation traps water in the tube and can cause a faucet pipe tube to burst.
- It should not be left connected a hose or other restrictions attached, which prevents the water from draining out of the faucet.
- When installed properly, the water is shut off several inches into the home. The water line does not freeze because of the heat in the home.
- Once the valve is shut off and a hose is not attached, all of the water in front of the valve drains from the faucet leaving the tube empty and removes the threat of burst pipes and consequent water damage.
- We have available a selection of hose bib vacuum breakers to protect connections from spray-back.
- Two of our Woodford frost free models, the 19 and 22, are already protected with the Patented Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) designed to prevent the faucet tube from bursting during freezing conditions, even if a hose is inadvertently left connected to the faucet.
- A PRV Upgrade Kit is available to for the Woodford Models 14, 16, 17, 19, 22 and V22.
- All of our products have detailed specifications and descriptions so you know just what you’re purchasing.
